Reviews - The Hotel Edison NYC near Times Square
"Never a disappointment!"
Reviewed April 1, 2012
I stayed at the Edison in NYC from March 27-31st. Room was ready, clean and quiet. Room was booked during a special promotion so the price was exceptional. I always stay at the Edison when visiting NYC and this trip made over a dozen times I have visited. The staff is professional, courteous and always available for any questions or assistance. I had a room with 2 queen beds and the space was adequate. If you are looking for a 5-star hotel with room service and all amenities, the Edison is not for you; but if you are looking for character, charm, location and a place to be comfortable and feel welcomed, then the Edison is the one. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to truly experience Times Square and all NYC has to offer.
"Economical room rates and excellent location!!!!! Could not be happier!!"

My family and I just had our second Spring Break stay at the Hotel Edison. The hotel is clean, has a friendly staff, and most importantly has an awesome location. It is right off Times Square!!!! My kids loved it!!! The hotel may not be the fanciest in New York City but it is so nice and very economical. The rates were so much less expensive than all the other hotels in the area. My family and I were out everyday sight seeing and came back every evening and just crashed on the nice clean beds. I definitely will be back.
"Hotel Edison New York"

Just spent a week in New York at a very great property. The Hotel Edison is an older hotel with wonderful proximity to all the Broadway Shows, Time Square and restaurants. The staff is excellent-the rooms are clean-the doorman make it very easy to get a cab and everyone takes very good care of you while you are there. They have an Italian restaurant "Sophie's in house as well as the "Edison Cafe" both Excellent in service and food!! Would highly recommend to anyone!
"Powerful Art Deco, Old New York"

Regardless of your purpose of coming to NYC, the Edison Hotel is the epitomy of the real NYC. In the spirit of a beautiful Art Deco structure , the Edison represents the culmination of the finest architectural styles in NYC, in particular the opulently designed lobby and famous landmark, Cafe Edison. The Bar Sophia in the Edison that faces the Barrymore Theatre is the regular stop for native New Yorkers who know exactly where to find fabulous nightly jazz. Don't miss this ! Edison Bellmen are hilarious. Especially if you happen to be a hockey fan.
"Brilliant location and value for money!"

Brilliant location and value for money. No complaints other than only having one plug socket in room and road works outside keeping us awake but that's not the hotels fault. Would also say tea/coffee making facilities should be provided but there was a deli next door that sold everything so i could still get my morning fix of tea! I was very pleased with the price i paid for this hotel in the heart of times square and recommend it to anyone on limited budget.

Have just spent a week here and can't find any fault with it. It's in a great location and good value for money plus, you have access to print your boarding passes for free which is a great bonus. Will be using this now for all my future New York stays.

I have been staying at the Edison for the past ten plus years. Have always found it to be a great economical place to stay. Location is great for the theatre district. Rooms are always clean and comfortable.
"Not bad at all!"

I was a little leery booking this hotel because of the reviews but because we got such a fantastic rate and we wouldn't be spending very much time in the room we took it. I'm glad that we did! The hotel itself is a little dated but I can say that it is very clean and neat. There was always an available elevator and the staff was very friendly and helpful and we were always greeted with a smile!
I would definitely stay here again because of the staff and because of the location. We were in the middle of everything!
"A real NYC experience!"

The Edison Hotel is an art deco hotel centrally located in Times Square. Although the rooms are small, the overall ambience is characteristic of this exciting city. The Cafe Edison is conveniently attached to the hotel, and adds to the overall charm.
"Excellent value"

I have used this hotel twice in the last year, and have had a pleasant experience both times.
The staff is friendly and responsive. The property and the rooms are clean and well-attended.
The location, for the price, is unbeatable. Everything you could need or want is right around the corner.
I will always stay at this hotel for my NYC visits.
"Better than I expected after reading some of the reviews"

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Edison hotel, the location was perfect, central, right on Times Square,
Tour bus stop just around the corner. Our room was basic though quite big with 2 queen beds which were very comfortable, At first I was a little disappointed as it was dated and in need of redecorating however the bathroom, towels and bedding were very clean and when on this type of holiday you only use the room to sleep and take a bath. (no bedbugs). For being in quite a busy area in view of Times square we found it very quiet no traffic noise. We found the staff helpful not long to wait at reception to book in the the bags were taken up to our room. We had breakfast in the hotel cafe and it was very nice, and the service excellent, and Yes should I go back to New York I think I would stay there again.
