We visited the Eddison ...

We visited the Eddison recently with a group of friends along with our 18 month old son. We had booked 3 rooms, we had asked on booking for these to be close to each other, but this was not possible on arrival. Check in was fine, although we had to check in separately even though the rooms were all under one booking. We did know there would be added fees/tax payable on arrival, this was the same for each room, we were told that it mostly covered the breakfast, even thought we had a room with only one adult in it was the same cost as the one with 3, but they only received breakfast vouchers for one person, so we thought this was abit steep seen as though the room with 3 adults was the same cost and had 3 lots of vouchers. The rooms were on the 2nd and 5th floor, they were NOT as pictured on the booking. The rooms were really dark, dated, and pretty rough. We asked for an additional lamp as the lighting was inadequate, and travelling with a baby we needed to be able to see in the rooms. There rooms were 2 bed queen rooms, they were not fancy at all. One night stand between the two beds, a heater that was so loud it was impossible to have on so the room was pretty cold, again travelling with a baby this was difficult as it was a choice between warm or loud. There was just a single lock on the door, no privacy bar/chain. Which made it difficult to relax as the toddler was able to open the door and there were no further security measures we could take. Sockets looked pretty rough, extension cords running around the beds. Housekeeping was adequate. Shower curtain was mouldy. Breakfast was ok, we visited the Friedman and paid the difference to have the breakfast, but then found that we could get the exact same bagel from crave and it was included in the voucher. So that was abit of a con. Location was great. Rooms need investment, very dated, scruffy, dark. A room within our group had cockroaches, luckily this wasn’t spotted until the last day, possibly when they gave in and turned the heating on. Cockroaches on the second floor. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Just returned from our ...

Just returned from our second stay, the first time the room was very shabby but the location is great. We were assured that the rooms have now been refurbished and so booked again, 2 signature queen rooms, one for my husband and I and one for our two adult children. Their room was lovely, a good size, a desk and chair, coffee machine and a completely separate bathroom. Our room (signature queen also) was tiny, you had to crab walk around the bed (a double at best) and a very small bathroom at the foot of the bed with a glass sliding door that didn't stay closed with the toilet immediately next to it and no coffee machine. However, our room had a small terrace so when I asked at the front desk if I could pay for an upgrade so it could be unlocked she said that once the weather cleared up it would be opened (it was rainy) so we accepted the room on the basis we could use the terrace. We got the same answer for the following 3 days when the weather had improved, on our last evening I asked why it hadn't been unlocked and was told very rudely that it wasn't sold as a terrace room so it would not be unlocked, it wasn't sold as a broom closet either but here we are. I am beyond disappointed that we have had terrible rooms both times, maybe I need to speak to front desk staff the way they spoke to me and something would be done about it and the 'security' guy at the entrance to the seating area in the lobby needs a lesson in manners after being super rude on multiple occasions despite us having our keys. Staff at both Friedmans and The Rum House are amazing, its a shame that other areas spoil the experience.
