The hotel is perfectly ...

The hotel is perfectly placed, in the heart of times square. Unfortunately, we had a leak from above and had what smelt like urine pouring into our bathroom onto our toiletries, etc. When I complained, I was originally told to pack up and drop our stuff to reception, and they would find us a new room by 3 pm. They said they had no spare rooms, when I said it wasn't acceptable as we hadn't washed, used toilet or brushed our teeth, they magically found a spare room. I don't think this was very good service and definitely left me feeling disappointed. On checking out, they asked how my stay was, I said not very good. They said that's great as they clearly didn't listen to my answer. Could be a great hotel if the service improved!

The Edison is the ...

The Edison is the epitome of ok. The hotel is in a fantastic location, if you’re visiting for a show. But so are lots of other hotels. The art deco styling is minimal, but appreciated. Otherwise there is nothing that makes the Edison stand out. The rooms are a good size and clean. The beds comfortable and the sheets just a little scratchy. They are also pretty characterless. And hot - everything is set to 75 degrees regardless of how you set your thermostat. The lobby blasts upbeat music at you in a bid to make you feel like it’s…the past? The service charge certainly isn’t. The mandatory $45 for two bottles of water in the room and a “grab and go” croissant and coffee from a nearby eatery tests your patience, as do the scrolling ads for discounts mentioning the Edison in the elevators. Look, it’s fine, ok? It’s not bad. It’s safe, clean and a place to sleep. Just don’t be falling for any “character”, and watch out for that additional fee.
