The Edison is the ...

The Edison is the epitome of ok. The hotel is in a fantastic location, if you’re visiting for a show. But so are lots of other hotels. The art deco styling is minimal, but appreciated. Otherwise there is nothing that makes the Edison stand out. The rooms are a good size and clean. The beds comfortable and the sheets just a little scratchy. They are also pretty characterless. And hot - everything is set to 75 degrees regardless of how you set your thermostat. The lobby blasts upbeat music at you in a bid to make you feel like it’s…the past? The service charge certainly isn’t. The mandatory $45 for two bottles of water in the room and a “grab and go” croissant and coffee from a nearby eatery tests your patience, as do the scrolling ads for discounts mentioning the Edison in the elevators. Look, it’s fine, ok? It’s not bad. It’s safe, clean and a place to sleep. Just don’t be falling for any “character”, and watch out for that additional fee.

Crowded lobby, understaffed @ check-in hour, but at least they know enough to offer comfortable lobby seating for a long wait. The rooms are small but decently appointed, beds seem like new; TVs are older, and the bathrooms reveal how old the building actually is, but overall clean & functional...so given such a central location & room rates this is more than fair value ! Tourists could do much worse

Lovely hotel. It's very busy here. But it has a great Rum bar playing live music. And two restaurants that are also part of the hotel. One of which you can get your garb and go breakfast. All the staff were super friendly. Across the street is a roof top steak restaurant and bar. Also right on top of Times Square. Cheap and cheerful club on the same street too. Called Woo woo...I would definitely consider staying here again. And yes there is a $40 service charge per day. (Everywhere does it. Seems you can't avoid it)
